A Poem of Loss

A year gone by
quicker than
a snap of the finger.

A long life lived,
now gone,
but not forgotten.

The roses bloom,
and a tree standing
in your name.

A tear streaking
a mentally worn
face.

Memories abound,
filling the vacancy
left behind.

Physically gone,
but living
in our hearts……

An acidic rain
fell upon the earth,
staining everything
with a purple curse.

The color was a drastic change,
drawn from the rainbow
from which it came.

As high as the tops of mountains,
and as low as the deep dark sea
one pastel color
for all the world to see…

Steps creaking under
thousands of footsteps
each day.

Railings swaying
in the breeze,
left and right.

People coming,
people going,
rushing here
and there.

Where they’re going
no one knows.

Always in a hurry
to get somewhere.

Never stopping
to enjoy the surroundings
everywhere.

Silence spreads its wings all around.

The caw of one lone crow breaks the stillness.

A sense of sadness and grief envelope me.

Tears pouring from my bloodshot eyes.
