A Poem of Loss

A year gone by
quicker than
a snap of the finger.
A long life lived,
now gone,
but not forgotten.
The roses bloom,
and a tree standing
in your name.
A tear streaking
a mentally worn
face.
Memories abound,
filling the vacancy
left behind.
Physically gone,
but living
in our hearts……

Steps creaking under
thousands of footsteps
each day.
Railings swaying
in the breeze,
left and right.
People coming,
people going,
rushing here
and there.
Where they’re going
no one knows.
Always in a hurry
to get somewhere.
Never stopping
to enjoy the surroundings
everywhere.
